Previously, she was the Chairwoman of the Mohegan Tribal Council and the Tribe’s Executive Director of Health and Human Services. In 2022, she was appointed Treasurer of the United States, becoming the first Native person to hold the position. ## Event Details Drawing upon her experiences, Chief Malerba will reflect on the importance of government service, why public leadership matters, indigenous perspectives on governance and service, and her own professional journey within both a Tribal nation and the federal government. The informal discussion will be followed by a Q&A session with students. This event is open to all HUID holders.
