Alyssa Schatz

Alyssa D. Schatz is a member of Wood Mountain Lakota First Nation (Hunkpapa Lakota). She is currently completing her Master of Urban Planning with a focus on land use, economic development and housing at Harvard University as a Fulbright Award recipient. This summer she had the privilege of being a Summer Fellow with Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Prior to attending Harvard, Alyssa served as a Senior Policy and Prairies Advisor to the Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations Canada. Alyssa advised on economic development, land and Treaty rights at the highest levels of the Government of Canada for Nations in across Prairies. In previous roles, she was a Policy Advisor to the Minister of Indigenous Services Canada and also worked in the public service to help implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples for Canada. She completed her undergraduate in Human Geography and Economics at the University of Alberta. Alyssa is proud to support the self-determination and sovereignty of the Oceti Sakowin Oyate through her work.
