Jason Carrizosa
Born and raised on the Morongo Reservation, Jason's personal and professional journey reflects the transformative impact of tribal self-determination and investment in its people. The educational, leadership, and economic opportunities provided by his tribe played a significant role in shaping both his career and his commitment to serving Indigenous communities.
For more than 16 years, Jason dedicated his career to the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, beginning in public safety and ultimately serving as Fire Chief and later Chief Administrative Officer. Throughout that time, he gained extensive experience in organizational leadership, strategic planning, operational management, budgeting, economic development, governance, and enterprise oversight.
Jason holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program. Jason is also pursuing further executive education through Harvard Kennedy School, focusing on leadership, governance, and Indigenous development. These experiences have strengthened his understanding of organizational strategy, financial stewardship, public leadership, and long-term economic sustainability.
In addition to Jason's executive leadership experience, he spent six years managing the Sovereign Funds Management investment club, where he developed expertise in financial analysis, investment evaluation, company valuation, and strategic capital allocation.
Today, Jason's focus is on advancing tribal governance, economic diversification, leadership development, and nation-building initiatives. He remains passionate about helping tribes and tribally owned enterprises strengthen their institutions, expand economic opportunities, and build sustainable futures for the next generation.
Jason's leadership philosophy is rooted in accountability, transparency, strategic thinking, and service. He believes that the strongest organizations are those that invest in their people, honor their values, and maintain a long-term vision that balances present needs with future prosperity.
Jason is grateful for the opportunities that have shaped his journey and remains committed to supporting Indigenous communities through leadership, innovation, and service.
